Emission Imager for Lunar Infrared Analysis in 3D

EMILIA-3D · Thermal · NASA / University of Arizona

EMILIA-3D makes 3D thermal models of lunar regolith with a thermal infrared imager and a stereo pair of visible light cameras.

University of Arizona leads the instrument under NASA PRISM-SALSA. Sarah Sutton is principal investigator. NASA dates a CLPS delivery in 2028 or later and will assign the delivery task order later.

Schematic

A single axis tilt gimbal carries the cameras and scans from the lander foot to the horizon every eight hours through one lunar day, about two weeks.
