Neutron Spectrometer System (MoonFall)
Lockheed Martin builds the Neutron Spectrometer System (NSS) instruments for MoonFall under NASA Ames award 80ARC027P0001, awarded 6 October 2026 and published 29 October. The attached NASA justification allocates four instruments to MoonFall, four to the CS-8 multi-lander project and one spare. NSS measures neutron flux to investigate near-surface composition and possible water ice. JPL builds the MoonFall drones; Lockheed supplies these instruments.
