The University of Hawaii at Manoa leads L-MAPS on the CX-2 Lunar Terrain Vehicle path. NASA selected L-MAPS in July 2025. It is a microwave spectrometer and ground-penetrating radar that measures temperature, density, and subsurface structure to more than 40 meters. Matthew Siegler leads the instrument team.
