Interlune and Vermeer lunar site preparation tool

Interlune and Vermeer partnership · site preparation tool for 2028

On 30 July 2026, Interlune and Vermeer expanded their partnership to develop, test, and deliver a lunar site preparation tool by 2028. The tool is to be integrated with a lunar rover, demonstrated on Earth, and then demonstrated on the Moon to prepare and stabilize the surface. The work builds on the full scale Interlune excavator prototype the companies unveiled in May 2025. Interlune and Vermeer describe the 2028 target as aligned with NASA's Moon Base plan. Vermeer's April 2026 work with Astroport adapts surface mining machines through the UTIPA adapter. Interlune's named flight work is METAL on Griffin-1 and the CLV-1 survival path with Astrolab.
