Moon Base launch buys

NASA Moon Base program

NASA is evaluating bulk buys of launchers for Moon Base, and Moon Base program manager Carlos García-Galán told Bloomberg on 6 October 2026 that the agency expects to announce the first set in the near future.

NASA’s Moon Base plan delivers roughly 60 tons of cargo in Phase 2, from 2029 through 2032, across 24 landings with low, medium, and heavy cargo class landers.

Mission brief

The Launch Services Program is the path named for procuring dozens of commercial launches a year.

The same plan names improved solar and RTG power stations and communications stations in this phase. García-Galán described evaluating a variety of rockets so Moon Base cargo has more than one path to the surface.
