CAPSTONE 02 identical 400 kg spacecraft pair
Two CAPSTONE 02 spacecraft · Demo for orbit pair · NASA / Advanced Space
CAPSTONE 02, the Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations and Navigation Experiment 02, flies two identical spacecraft of about 400 kg (882 lb) each around the Moon in 2027.
Advanced Space holds the contract with NASA and Terran Orbital built them. The pair fly alongside each other to demonstrate rendezvous and proximity operations, autonomous navigation and cislunar communication, so later cargo and crew vehicles can find each other.
