SELINE, Site-agnostic Energetic Lunar Ion and Neutron Environment

Built in-house by Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory

SELINE is the Site-agnostic Energetic Lunar Ion and Neutron Environment from Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, selected by NASA on 20 January 2026 under PRISM for a CLPS delivery in 2028 or later.

NASA release 26-009 describes those measurements as the first at the lunar surface. Johns Hopkins APL in Laurel, Maryland, published its selection account on 21 January 2026 and dates delivery in 2028. NASA dates the CLPS delivery in 2028 or later and will assign the delivery task order later.

Mission brief

The measurements inform space weather preparation and safety for long term human exploration of the lunar surface, and the planetary processes that radiation drives in the surface material.

Schematic

The laboratory leads the investigation. The University of Oslo names Konstantin Herbst as a co investigator, with partners at the University of California, Berkeley and at NASA Johnson Space Center with KBR.
